“Flying Sky” is a Xianxia and Xuanhuan novel written by Yue Qianchou. The story follows the protagonist, Miao Yi, an orphan who makes a living butchering pigs to support his two unrelated younger siblings.

About the Work

Miao Yi is an orphan who supports his two unrelated younger siblings by slaughtering pigs. Driven by fate, he enters “Ten Thousand Zhang Red Dust” seeking opportunity. He finds two immortal herbs, leaving all chances of cultivating immortality to his siblings. He also meets a scholar who is actually the remnant soul of a great demon from the Red Dust.

Ten Thousand Zhang Red Dust: Legend says it is the place where a great battle between immortals and demons took place. A hundred thousand years ago, a hundred thousand celestial soldiers and generals crossed the vast starry sky to pursue a great demon here. Unexpectedly, the demon was too powerful, and the hundred thousand celestial soldiers and generals formed a great formation, perishing together with the demon.

In “Flying Sky,” besides absorbing the spiritual energy of heaven and earth, there is a faster way to cultivate: collecting the power of wishes (願力, yuan li). Wishes are a very magical thing; one person’s wish is small, but when many people’s wishes are gathered together, they generate a magical power. Cultivators use this power to summon the spiritual energy of heaven and earth, accelerating their cultivation.

The fastest way to collect the power of wishes is through plunder. Bai Lao gradually guides Miao Yi onto the path of cultivation. Once on this path, there is no turning back. This path is full of bloodshed and killing, full of pain and betrayal. The further one goes, the more grievances one bears. To break free, there is only one way: move forward forever, never look back. Only when you truly stand at the highest peak can you leave everything behind.

Realm Divisions

The initial realms are divided according to lotus color:

Zongheng (Vertical and Horizontal): White Lotus, Green Lotus.

Yukong (Riding the Air): Red Lotus, Purple Lotus.

Feitian (Flying Sky): Golden Lotus, Colored Lotus.

Fali Wubian (Boundless Magic Power): Transformation Lotus, Manifest Saint.

Shenhun (Divine Soul).

Character Introductions

Miao Yi: Loyal and righteous, he gives his hard-won chances of cultivation to his unrelated younger siblings. Unfortunately, he lacks talent and is unsuitable for cultivation, but he receives Bai Lao’s help to transform and is taught the “Spark Technique” (星火诀, Xing Huo Jue). The “Spark Technique” can directly burn away the thoughts and emotions of thousands of beings within wish beads, helping him cultivate faster than others. Miao Yi later becomes the supreme ruler, with many wives and concubines, but only Yun Zhiqiu is the woman he trusts and loves most. After he gains control of the world, she becomes the Heavenly Mother, managing his harem.

Second Brother: Zhang Pangzi (Fatty Zhang). Usually cunning, but quick-witted and eloquent. When necessary, he puts on an innocent act. His consistent approach is to pretend to be upright and honest when dealing with powerful people. He likes to eat meat, drink wine, and admire beautiful women, but he has a connection to Buddhism because he unintentionally hears a unique Buddhist mantra and is forced to become a Buddhist disciple.

Third Sister: Lu Xuexin is a simple girl but has extremely high cultivation talent. She possesses the Phoenix Body, the most suitable physique for cultivation.

Distribution of Power

There are six cultivators with the highest cultivation in the cultivation world, collectively known as the Six Sages of Heaven and Earth: Demon Sage Ji Huan, Immortal Sage Mu Fanjun… and Miao Yi’s immortal kingdom belongs to Immortal Sage Mu Fanjun’s territory.

To facilitate the collection of the power of wishes and manage the thousands of believers in the area, twelve monks with great powers are divided into twelve armies: Zi, Chou, Yin, Mao, Chen, Si, Wu, Wei, Shen, You, Xu, and Hai, guarding all sides. These twelve army leaders must be appointed by Immortal Sage Mu Fanjun.

Each army leader governs ten palaces, each palace governs ten halls, each hall governs ten mansions, each mansion governs ten mountains, and each mountain governs ten caves.

The cave is the most basic unit. Typically, a cave master governs at least a hundred thousand believers.
