Story Background

Humans are the spirit of all beings, Gu are the essence of Heaven and Earth. This world contains thousands upon thousands of countless Gu worms. They live around us, in the soil, in the grass, even within the bodies of wild beasts. In the process of human reproduction, the sages gradually discovered the mysteries of Gu worms. People use their own primeval essence to cultivate, refine, and manipulate these Gu worms to achieve various purposes. These people are collectively known as Gu Masters.

The World of Reverend Insanity

The Gu World is divided into Nine Heavens and Five Regions. Each of the Ancient Nine Heavens is separated by a Celestial Qi Wall, which consists of countless Celestial Qi. Note: Because of Ren Zu and the Ten Children, seven of the Ancient Nine Heavens shattered, leaving only Black Heaven and White Heaven. The Five Regions’ regional walls were destroyed, the earth veins unified, a qi tide swept the world. Later, Black Heaven and White Heaven were confused, and after being completely merged by Spectral Soul Demon Venerable, White Heaven was swallowed by Black Heaven, forming – Gloomy Heaven.

Gu Master Ranks

Gu Masters have nine ranks, equivalent to nine realms. Each rank is divided into four minor realms: Initial Stage, Middle Stage, High Stage, and Peak Stage. Gu Masters below rank five are mortals, rank six become immortals, and rank nine are venerables. The gap between immortals and mortals is very large, like the difference between heaven and earth.

Note: Surviving three myriad tribulations is only a necessary, but not sufficient, condition for achieving Rank Nine Venerable. In addition, the main cultivation path must reach the unparalleled Grandmaster Realm and break through the Heavenly Dao’s blockade.
