Character Appearance
Born in Zhilan Prefecture of the Huangting Kingdom, her true form is a giant fire python, tens of zhang (丈 – Chinese unit of length) long, transformed from the literary fortune of the Zhilan Prefecture Library. In human form, she is a cute little girl in a pink dress. Gentle and timid, she and Chen Lingjun were subdued by Cui Dongshan. Her true body is placed in an ancient inkstone, gifted by Cui Dongshan to Chen Ping’an as a study companion.
After returning to Fallen Mountain with Chen Ping’an, she serves as the little housekeeper, responsible for managing the keys to all the rooms and the account books for all matters, large and small, never making a mistake. She is kind and considerate, always keeping Fallen Mountain clean and tidy. She also uses the snake gallstones given to her by Chen Ping’an to advance to the Cave Mansion Realm. Before Chen Ping’an’s long journey, he also entrusted her with refining the Dragon King Basket.
After Chen Ping’an returned from his long journey, to avoid Chen Ping’an from giving her a name (Chen Ping’an named his flying swords “First Day” and “Fifteenth Day,” and “Exorcist”), she named herself “Chen Ruchu,” meaning that her relationship with the Master would always be this good, for a long, long time, just like the first time they met. She was also entered into the Fallen Mountain genealogy under the name “Chen Ruchu.”
Unexpectedly, after learning that Chen Ping’an named her “Nuanshu” (暖树), taken from the phrase “Warm rhythm subtly urges, secluded valleys echo harmoniously, orioles flutter, newly moving to fragrant trees,” taking the first and last characters, signifying a good beginning and a good end. She felt that the name Chen Ping’an gave her was better, her eyes filled with tears, secretly wiping them away for a long time.
On the eve of the founding of the Fallen Mountain sect, she went to the Lotus Blossom Blessed Land to refine fortune and advance to the Dragon Gate Realm. She returned from the Lotus Blossom Blessed Land at the founding of the sect. During the founding ceremony, the female official Xiang Sui served as the one who chants about the mountains and rivers. At the ancestral hall banquet, she served as the deputy tea server for the right protector, Zhou Mi.
Life Experiences
Huangting Kingdom Period
She was a fire python transformed from the literary fortune of the Zhilan Prefecture Library in the Huangting Kingdom, living in a simple prison for hundreds of years, living by absorbing the “aura of books.” The Cao family raised her for two generations, asking her to stir up a water-fire battle with the Royal River Water Snake when she molted and upgraded, causing public panic, in order to achieve the goal of dominating a state.
Cui Dongshan passed by, killed the two sons of the Cao family, and subdued the fire python and the Royal River Water Snake, giving them to Chen Ping’an as “apprenticeship gifts,” to serve as little study companions.
After Leaving the Huangting Kingdom
On the way back to Fallen Mountain with Chen Ping’an, she was responsible for taking care of daily life and also obtained Chen Ping’an’s promise of a good snake gallstone (condensed from the spiritual blood of the last true dragon in the world). During this time, they encountered the great demon Bai Ze and the fox demon Qingya and her servant.
Fallen Mountain Period
As soon as she returned to Fallen Mountain, she received three extra snake gallstones from Chen Ping’an, and was moved to tears. She also upgraded to the Cave Mansion Realm with the help of the snake gallstones. Before Chen Ping’an’s long journey, he also entrusted her with refining the Dragon King Basket.
After Chen Ping’an returned from his long journey, to avoid Chen Ping’an giving her a name, she named herself “Chen Ruchu,” meaning that she and the Master were like the first time they met. She was also entered into the Fallen Mountain genealogy under the name “Chen Ruchu.” After learning that Chen Ping’an’s name “Nuanshu” was better, her eyes were filled with tears.
On the eve of the founding of the Fallen Mountain sect, she went to the Lotus Blossom Blessed Land to refine fortune and advance to the Dragon Gate Realm.
